Tongue Tinglin' History
Lewis Edibles, Inc. was formed in 1995. The business is currently owned and operated by Carl H. Lewis, Jr. and Doris Lewis. Doris Lewis has had the recipe now known as Tongue Tinglin' Sauce for more than 20 years. The family based business began bottling Tongue Tinglin' Sauce in the Lewis' home in June 1995. Soon, the Lewis family joined Goodness Grows in North Carolina and became a member of the North Carolina Specialty Foods Association. The organizations helped Lewis Edibles, Inc. make connections with various buyers. By July 1995, Tongue Tinglin' Sauce was available in twelve local stores and specialty shops. As the demand for Tongue Tinglin' Sauce began to grow, Lewis Edibles, Inc. chose Bobbee's Bottling, Inc. in Louisburg, NC to bottle the sauce. Tongue Tinglin' Sauce is currently sold at Food Lion stores as well as other grocery stores.
Tongue Tinglin' Sauce is available in two flavors, Original or Hot & Spicy. Since its conception, Tongue Tinglin' Sauce has received several awards. Versatility is the key to Tongue Tinglin's success...bake, baste, dip, grill, marinate, roast, sauce, sauté, and season. Tongue Tinglin' Sauce is an all purpose sauce that can be used on everything, including baked beans, beef, chicken, french fries, pork, turkey, and vegetables. It is also great when used as a dip for shrimp any oysters.
